About our work

The Energy Saving Trust exists to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by helping people to use energy more efficiently, conserve water, reduce waste and make renewable energy sources more accessible. We also help people choose greener ways to travel at home and at work. We have a range of advice services - delivered at a local level - which provide practical solutions to environmental issues with enthusiasm and passion.

Consumer advice and action

Our free, impartial advice service supports people to save energy, conserve water and reduce waste in the home and make sustainable transport choices. Last year we spoke to nearly 3,500 people. This and other activities give us a unique level of insight into consumer needs, aspirations and behaviour around energy-saving activities.

In addition to this, our product and energy-saving advice advice services also contribute to supporting people to save energy.

Commercial partnerships

We offer a range of services to advise and support commercial organisations to create more sustainable business practices, and to engage their customers and employees to save energy, conserve water and reduce and recycle waste.

We are also actively engaged in research and other projects with partners from across the sectors.

Housing and building works

We provide technical guidance and solutions to help UK housing professionals design, build and refurbish to high levels of energy efficiency.

Local authorities and housing associations

We offer a range of advice, support and other services designed specifically to help local authorities and housing associations meet their obligations under the new carbon dioxide emissions performance indicator. Many local authorities have made use of our insight and technical expertise.

Communities

We provide support to hundreds of communities across the UK through our centrally managed network, Community Action for Energy, which provides a wealth of useful information and help. Our network of advice centres offer direct support to communities to make things happen on the ground.

Business transport

We help businesses to reduce the running costs and associated environmental impact of their fleet operations (including company cars).
