To assist the work local authorities are doing to tackle climate change we offer a range of support tools. These include:
Tracking action on carbon emissions (TrACE)
TrACE enables local authorities to monitor and report on their carbon saving actions by recording CO2 saving evidence. It is a useful tool for any local authority in the UK that has reduction targets, from English local authorities that have included National Indicator 186 in their Local Area Agreement to Scottish local authorities that have included carbon dioxide emissions per capita in their Local Outcome Indicators.
TrACE is currently available as an excel spreadsheet but there will be a web based version available in Summer 2010.
Sharing action on carbon emissions (ShARE)
ShARE is an online database of good practice case studies from local authorities and housing associations across the UK. The aim is to showcase projects from across the UK, covering a wide variety of project types, budget and locations. The emphasis is on sharing as we will be asking local authorities to upload their own examples. We have also produced some video case studies showcasing examples of good practise from across the UK.
We have vast experience of supporting local authorities to develop innovative projects through our own funding programmes and those of other organisations. The legacy of these programmes is a wealth of information and learnings which can be replicated. You can find out more about this by reading our top tips for successful carbon reduction projects.
