An energy investor has proposed a method of speeding up planning permission for onshore wind projects.
Richard Nourse, managing partner of investment firm Novus Modus, is keen to develop a new company which will put wind turbines on industrial sites, rather than rural locations.
He hopes that the already aesthetically displeasing areas will be more likely to be approved by planning controllers.
Dale Vince, founder and managing director of Ecotricity, noted the further benefits of the idea.
"The electricity made at each site is used by them [industrial parks] for their operations, while any excess can be fed into the grid," said Mr Vince.
He added that Ecotricity already runs a similar scheme on sites of companies such as B&Q, Sainsbury's and Ford.
