The Boiler Scrappage Scheme in England has been very successful and we have now allocated all vouchers available under the scheme. No further funding will be made available to the scheme in England and therefore it has now been closed to new applications.
If you have received a Boiler Scrappage Scheme voucher, please remember that you should get your boiler changed and cash in your voucher within three months.
You should expect your voucher to be redeemed within five weeks, but in some cases it may take a little longer for payments to go through, and don’t forget it may take three days for the money to appear on your bank statement. If you haven’t received payment after six weeks please give us a call.
The scheme was always intended to be a limited sum of money to kick start the industry and raise awareness of energy efficiency. The scheme has been popular and all the money available under the scheme has now been allocated. We understand some companies will continue to offer reductions on new boiler installation after the closure of the scheme. For more information here is a press release regarding the scheme issued by the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
The Boiler Scrappage Scheme has been very successful with many householders interested in upgrading their old G rated boilers for a new A rated boiler. The scheme has now closed and all vouchers have been allocated. In total, 133,976 vouchers have allocated under the scheme. 118,249 boilers have been installed, based on the number of claims to date. This data will be updated on a monthly basis.
New boilers have rated efficiencies of 90 per cent or more meaning that they use less fuel, resulting in lower CO2 emissions and running costs. Renewable heat technologies do not use fossil fuels, reducing CO2 emissions still further. For example, this means by upgrading your G-rated boiler to an A-rated one, your household heating bill should drop by about a quarter - a saving, on average, of around £235 a year.
- with the cost of installing new heating systems or energy efficiency measures.
Warm Front
The Warm Front Scheme in England provides owner occupier or privately rented households with a package of insulation and/or heating measures up to a maximum value of £3,500 (or £6,000 where oil, low carbon or renewable technologies are recommended).
Please note that you can only apply for either the Warm Front scheme or the Boiler Scrappage Scheme - not both

Q. What happens to the voucher I have already received when the scheme closes? Will it still be honoured?
A. As long as you meet the terms and conditions of the Boiler Scrappage Scheme, your voucher ensures that funding is allocated to you for your boiler replacement. The rebate for your boiler must be claimed within 12 weeks of the voucher being allocated. We are very sorry, but if the voucher expires, there is no more money to support a new application to the scheme.
