Steffanie Williams is a part time care worker and school supervisor. She lives in a terraced house in Birmingham.

What energy saving measures do you undertake in your daily life?

"I try and keep to the basic rules of eco-living; recycling lot, using energy efficient light bulbs, switching appliances off at the mains, turning lights off and only boiling the water I need in my kettle at a time. Also, I try to only use my car once a week, and walk everywhere else. We have our loft insulated, but it could be thicker; we also have draught excluders fitted and double glazing throughout the whole house, which has made the house sufficiently warmer allowing us to turn the thermostat down."

What made you decide to become a Green Ambassador?

"It makes me feel good knowing that I am helping the environment, and I also like knowing that I don't use resources that I don't need."

What other green plans do you have?

"I may try to stop going abroad on holiday, and stay in the UK instead. We would like a wind turbine and solar panels, but can't afford it at the moment."
